UV-System operating System Visades FlexFlow
With our FlexFlow operating mode, we are changing the traditional application of UV disinfection systems to compensate for changes in raw water quality, for example, during heavy rain.
UV systems are normally set to an operating point with a maximum flow rate and a required minimum irradiance. If the minimum irradiance is exceeded, the UV system malfunctions and the water supply is stopped.
FlexFlow essentially does the same thing, except that the maximum flow rate is continuously adjusted to the UV irradiance. We record the current UV irradiance and adjust the flow rate to the maximum quantities stored in the drinking water certificate.
This offers the significant advantage that the UV system remains in operation during heavy rain down to the lowest certified UV irradiance, only adjusting the flow rate.
We offer ready-made control systems for small systems (T40F, T80F, also in ECOplus versions). These are pipe components with integrated flow measurement, a control valve, and a flush valve – and many advantages.
The cost of the FlexFlowIQ pipe components, including the measuring and control devices, is very close to the standard static equipment of a UV system.
This FlexFlowIQ pipe component simultaneously provides the required flow restriction without any pressure loss, reduces installation effort, is plug-in ready, and all components are approved for drinking water.
Finally, a clarification:
We regulate the flow in FlexFlow operating mode based on the measured UV irradiance levels in the UV system.
Any online turbidity measurement that may be present has no influence on the FlexFlow flow control behavior.
The turbidity measurement only ensures the general operation of the UV system within the permitted turbidity limits.
